Manute Bol: The Gentle Giant Dies at 47 2

During his career, Manute Bol was very active in various charitable causes, donating a whooping $3.5 Million to support foundations to war-ravaged Sudan. Due to his humanitarian calling, he frequented Sudan when, one time, he was held by the Sudanese government for allegedly supporting the Sudan People’s Liberation Army.

In 2001, Manute Bol founded the Ring True Foundation to deliver relief to Christians in Sudan. Because Sudan is an Islam country, Ring True Foundation and Manute Bol continued to suffer persecution from the Sudan government and the Islam Fundamentalists. But that didn’t stop Manute Bol, and he continued to go back and forth to Sudan advocating freedom.

Until in May this year which will prove to be Manute Bol’s last journey to his birth land, he contracted the Steven Johnson Syndrome. Steven Johnson Syndrome affects the cells in which the death of the skin cells causes the epidermis to separate from the dermis. Only a few months later, Manute Bol died due to Steven Johnson Syndrome with kidney complications.

Manute Bol –a tribal man whose name means ‘special blessing’, who came to America to learn a little English and block some shots and left us with a legacy we will remembered for a long time, in and out of court.
