Laurie “Bambi” Bembenek died at 52 – 1

Convicted murderer Laurie Bembenek died of liver and kidney failure. And that ended her life-long sorrowful and tangled life. Bembenek’s story had been nothing but heartache after heartache I have nothing but sympathy for her.

You know how it is that when a person died, the story about that person gets revisited as if an encore? That said, Laurie Bembenek’s story is somehow worth re-telling. How she got caught intertwined in a web of hopelessness that begun in 1981.

Because of her death, I crammed on some articles surrounding Laurie Bembenek’s arrest and persecution. Although the incident happened many, many years ago, I can’t help but be moved by her story.

Bembenek’s trial was well received by the media. And it was during the trial that the newspaper nicknamed her “Bambi”. During the post-trial, evidences contradicted, samples didn’t match, and Christine’s son who was an eyewitness said, it was not Laurie Bembenek he saw that night his mother was killed. Some of those evidences actually pointed to Judy Zess.
