He apologized to Armando Galarraga and to the rest of the Tigers for making a wrong call and expressed a heart-felt remorse over this. The teary-eyed Jim Joyce was greeted warmly by the Tigers, led by Armando Galarraga. They shook hands, the Tigers fan applauded, the crowd cheered for that incredible display of sportsmanship. And this about the time I took out my Kleenex and weep.

Jim Joyce gave a wrong call that would have set a Major League record of three perfect games in 23 days. Armando Galarraga was ‘robbed’ that perfect game. History was created in Major League Baseball. A wrong call, a missed opportunity but there was peace and goodwill. Now that is something you don’t see everyday: especially in baseball.
