Laurie “Bambi” Bembenek died at 52 – 2

There was this one guy, John Swift, who told reporters that he believed Laurie Bembenek was not guilty. John Swift was cellmate to Fred Horenberger, boyfriend of Judy Zess, who told Swift that he was the one who killed Christine Schultz. Nine more people, some of them also from prison would say that Horenberger told them the same thing and that Christine Schultz ex-husband Elfred Schultz was the one who hired him. This, ofcourse, was snubbed by the courts and the district attorney hang on to the guilty verdict.

Bambi Bembenek will later escape from prison and ran to Canada and was apprehended a few months later. Bambi Bembenek gained the Canadian government sympathy who promised to review her case. The review then found errors on previous investigations and Bambi Bembenek later got a new trial. She would served reduce sentence considering time served.
