MEANING OF CELTIC KNOTWORK1
The Celtic people lived along the European countries in the olden days, They spread all along the countries and then when the Roman empire came they slowly started mingling with the Romans and now the Celtic tribe has disappeared,. In many countries like India, Bali, Indonesia, Tibet the eternal knot is common symbol representing the endless cycles of existence. In India there is a custom of putting a knot work design with rice flour or special type of powder in front of the house to welcome Goddess Lakshmi inside the house They put elaborate knot work during festival time to say that it is an auspicious day. In a similar manner the Celtic tribes were using different knots and united them to form a pattern and carved the pattern in rocks and used it in jewelry, tattoos etc;
Some designs show that life is eternal and it goes on and on, be good to everybody and do your duty with sincerity and dedication and you will reach the goal which is reaching God.
If we look around us we see that our life consists of a circular cycle. We go around it and reach the same point. For example the climate goes around and reaches the same climate again, winter, spring summer autumn and then reaches the same winter. This circular symbol shows important keys to relationships and community.
A square knot represents stability. A building will stand firmly only if it is built in a square of rectangle shape, the foundation will be in the form of a square to give stability to the building. So if we use a square symbol it shows that our life will be stable and we will lead a stable life. Even numbers have some symbolic effect. Number fiver represents the five senses or the four corners and the centre of a square.
